Air Mattress Prices

Tip! very convenient. Built in portability, the ability for it to self-inflate using supplied tools, and the ease of use of lending it out to friends and family

The prices of air mattresses range from around $50 to as much as $1200, depending upon the size, quality and comfort of the mattress you choose. The cheaper air mattresses may not have the same styling and comfort as a premium air mattress, and it may not come with a 30-day exchange or refund option. So, depending upon the type of mattress you choose, the pricing will vary accordingly.

The cheaper ones sell for $50 to $100. They may not come with a pump, which makes blowing them up extremely difficult. It is recommended that if the mattress does not come with a pump that you go out and buy one. They are reasonably priced, and you will need it! Perhaps you own another air mattress that did come with a pump. Less expensive air mattresses come with a nylon lining. Some may have a quilted or fleece lining, but you will pay closer to $100 for those.

Tip! a traditional bed will sometimes cost between $400-$800, a nice modern comfortable air mattress bed, like the ones manufactured by Aerobed cost anywheres from $99 to $300. That’s a big difference in cost!

The next step up in air mattresses is the mid range from over $100, up to around $300. These mid range mattresses come with a pump and have better lining like fleece. Some are equipped with a heating control system, which is adjustable and can provide heat to all night long. Of course these features add to the price.

The higher priced air mattresses are between $300 and $1200. These mattresses are very plush compared to the less expensive ones and have a variety of features. Most come with an electric pump have built in pillow tops and rich fleece lining. They are extremely comfortable and offer an internal heating system. The high-end air mattresses all come with a trial option and a warranty of some type. Sizes of the mattresses determine the prices. The smaller or single mattresses are, of course, cheaper as compared to queen size for a king size mattress.

Tip! some doctors are now recommending patients to try sleeping on an air mattress (adjusted to their own liking) to help get a better nights rest.

Memory Foam Air Mattress

Tip! The hospital bed is comfortable and relaxing. It is something that you wouldn’t think would be such a good experience, would you?

Memory foam air mattresses are developed using visco-elastic foam material that nicely conforms to each person’s shape and returns to a normal position once the body pressure is lifted. That’s why it is called a memory foam air mattress. It allows for body weight pressure to be evenly distributed on the surface of the foam and to adjust accordingly fitting the movements of the body.

What gives this piece of foam memory is the addition of certain chemicals — synthetic polyurethane foam material to increases the weight and compactness of the foam creating what is known as a non-toxic visco- elastic foam material.

To determine if a material is visco-elastic, it has to be sensitive to temperature and have the ability to bounce back to its original shape. Memory foams are graded by visco-elasticity and sturdiness by determining the following grading system:

Tip! very convenient. Built in portability, the ability for it to self-inflate using supplied tools, and the ease of use of lending it out to friends and family

  • Weight (density on pounds per square foot) - the higher the density the more visco-elastic it will become

  • ILD rating (indentation load deflection) - this will indicate how hard or soft a material is and the higher the ILD, the firmer the foam

  • Resilience - this measures the foam’s springiness. The higher the resilience, the better.

  • Tensile - this refers to how much the foam can be stretched and elongated
  • Tip! It’s simply cheaper to purchase an air mattress over purchasing a traditional box spring coil bed.

The following are a few qualities to watch out for when looking for a good memory foam air mattress:

  • Good contouring ability meaning it should be able to shape and disperse your body weight accordingly

  • A good memory foam air mattress will not need a box spring underneath to make the mattress feel good.

  • Check out the warranty that the company offers
  • Memory foam air mattresses come highly recommended for those who suffer joint pain, body aches and for those who have the habit of sleeping on their back or stomach.
